How do I apply?
Apply online or in person at any of our Parker’s stores. Most people complete the online application process in about 20 minutes. To apply online, create an account in our applicant tracking system. You will be asked to create a username and password. You will use this username and password to update your application and to apply for different open positions. If you are hired you will also log into your account to accept your offer and complete your onboarding materials.
Is there someone who can help me if I have trouble completing the online application?
Absolutely. Equal access to programs, services and employment is available to all persons. Applicants requiring reasonable accommodation to the application and/or interview process should notify a representative of the Human Resources Department by calling (912) 231-1001, M-F 8am – 5pm EST.
What type of security measures do you have?
Safety is our number one priority. We take extensive measures to ensure employees and customers enjoy the Parker’s experience with confidence. To begin, new team members receive comprehensive safety and security training. All stores are brightly lit, inside and out, with multiple sophisticated alarms and digital video cameras in place, and specially designed drop safes are in each of the stores. For additional safety, windows are clutter-free, providing open visibility from the store to the fuel pumps and street.
Should I apply at each Parker’s store where I would be willing to work?
No, that’s not necessary. When you apply online, you’re applying to work at a specific Parker’s location. Our neighboring stores might review your application and call you if they are interested in interviewing you.
If I am interested in a position within one of the stores, where do I send my resume?
You may upload your resume during the online application process.
Will I be called after submitting an application?
Only applicants who are chosen for interviews are called. Store managers wish they could call every applicant and thank him or her for considering Parker’s during your job search. However, the number of applications we receive makes that impossible. If you are called and have applied for multiple locations, please ask which Parker’s store is conducting the interview.
How long is my application active?
For 30 days. If you don’t hear anything within the first month after you apply, we encourage you to return to the store to update your application, which will make it active for another 30 days.
How old do you have to be to work at Parker’s?
Due to the age restricted products sold within our stores, company policy requires employees to be 18 years of age or older.
What is a typical work schedule?
Shift times vary considerably depending on where you work in the store, what your job is, and whether you work part-time or full-time, but most everyone works on weekends because that is our busiest time.
Will I have to work weekends and holidays?
Yes. Parker’s stores are always open, which means most store team members will work on weekends. Holiday rates will be paid for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Hourly employees, non-exempt employees may be eligible for holiday pay at 1½ times their regular rate of pay.
How often would I get paid?
All Parker’s employees are paid bi-weekly.
What is Parker’s uniform policy?
The employees representing Parker’s are a reflection on the entire company and Parker’s brand image. Employees are required to be dressed in proper uniform during all working hours. Uniform shirts or jackets and name tags must have the Parker’s® Company logo. Hourly, non-exempt employees may wear blue or black jeans. Management personnel are required to wear Dockers-style pants. All employees working in a store with a deli are required to wear shoes with non-slip soles.
Good personal hygiene is a must for a service organization. Employees are expected to be clean and neat in accordance with generally accepted personal hygiene standards.
If I accept an hourly position, how long will it take for me to become a manager?
Parker’s has always believed in rewarding hard work and dedication and we also have a longstanding tradition of promoting the most qualified employees. If an employee demonstrates exemplary skill and performance they may apply for promotional opportunity and go before a panel. Once accepted into the program they will complete a 12-week leadership development program.
It’s important to note that all eligible candidates are considered equally so it may take longer in areas with a higher concentration of qualified and interested associates.
How do I know what management openings there are at a specific store?
We don’t always advertise specific openings because most of them are filled through promotion from within. We do, however, accept résumés from management candidates since we occasionally hire from outside the company, particularly for our deli departments. We ONLY consider external candidates who have worked in a retail or food service setting and who have management experience. If you meet BOTH criteria, please complete an application. If you don’t have the required experience, we would welcome your interest in a non-management position.
